Slovenia – day 1 the Julian Alps

Tuesday and we cross the border into Slovenia mid morning.

Our destination for the first night is Lake Bolinj and it doesn’t disappoint, a stunning setting, crystal clear waters with an Alpine backdrop.

The only place to stop is a very mediocre campsite which is more expensive than any of the hotels we stayed at in SE Asia.

We spend the afternoon with a stroll round the lake and even Jo couldn't resist taking a dip

The campsite is hell, noisy, rocky, and sloping, thankfully it is only for one night !!

First impressions of Slovenia are good, a lot more relaxed than Italy and they seem to have a better selection of foodstuffs in their supermarkets, everybody seems to speak good English which is a definite plus as their language seems impossible to pronounce (far too many consonants and not enough vowels to make any sense). Fuel is a lot cheaper which is another plus as that is our main expense.
