Does it really exist

Ben Nevis, I’m beginning to think that it is just a ploy by the Scottish tourist board, because having been in the area twice, 25 years apart and at different times of the year I still haven’t seen the mountain or a postcard image of it. We have seen an area on the map where it is supposed to be and even tried catching it unawares by sneaking up a glen behind where it is supposed to be, but no, it’s always covered in cloud and it’s always raining, which is also a ploy by the Scottish tourist board so that no-one actually goes to look for the fabled mountain. So Scotland – the games up, we’ve sussed yer oot !!

see, its still under cloud !

Leaving Fort William we head towards Glen Coe where miraculously the rain stops, the clouds lift (see I told you so) and we enjoy an atmospheric drive through the famous Glen.

Just past Orchy bridge we stop for a coffee break and watch the waterfalls.

Onwards to Oban for lunch, or should I say food poisoning. We decide on eating “fresh” seafood at the harbour which tasted very nice at the time, however 45 mins later was a different story. Apologies to the toilet attendants of the Oban branch of Tesco.

We finally pull up to wildcamp overlooking the islands of Jura and Islay with seabirds diving for fish in the bay on one side of the van and around 20 or so wild deer grazing in a field on the other side.
