...on the bus bound for Jerantut the skies open and we’re treated to an epic downpour, these soon give way as we head into the highland interior along a motorway which has been carved through the jungle
In parts it has been heavily deforested to provide available land to grow rubber trees
and palms to produce oil.
As we settle down for the journey we notice that there are quite a lot of leaks in the roof of our transport and it seems as though the under manager for tasteful interior design must have been on holiday when this gem of a coach rolled off the production line, green carpeted roof, blue overhead lockers, purple patterned seats and red curtains make quite a combination.
On arrival in Jerantut some three hours later we find the temperature has increased and we make our way by taxi to our hotel for the night, which is just a stop off so we can take the jungle line train to Kota Bharu on the north east coast tomorrow.
