Back in the UK !!

We awake to a frost and snow on the mountains,

leaving Dunree we head for a small road taking us uphill and through the Mamore gap,

on arriving at the pass dodging ice patches on the road we start our descent only to find in front of us a huge patch of ice across the whole road, deciding not to continue we have to reverse all the way back up the hill to the top where we are able to find a place to turn round and find a new route to Malin head, the most northerly point in Ireland.

We decide to take the ferry from Greencastle to Magilligan point in Northern Ireland only a fifteen minute journey but very rough and wet.

On arrival in Northern Ireland it’s obvious straight away that we are back in the UK, nobody waves at you as you pass, the houses are small and tightly packed and everywhere seems built up, fuel and food is more expensive, we’ve seen more cars today than we have the whole of the past two weeks put together, you have to pay to park everywhere that’s if you can find somewhere that doesn’t have height restriction barriers or signs saying that you can’t park overnight. It’s certainly a world away from the Republic of Ireland. We park up for the night overlooking Dunluce castle.
