Back in the real Ireland

Leaving Northern Ireland (two days was more than enough) back to a slower pace however the coastline is very built up with unpicturesque towns all the way to Dublin which we skirt round to get back into the countryside. An uneventful day finishes on the banks of Poulaphouca lake in the Wicklow mountains.

Next day is spent in the mountains although it’s very foggy, here’s a photo of the Wicklow gap.

Weather takes a turn for the worse so we decide to park up in the car park of the Roundwood Inn and eat there this evening, they have a peat fire burning inside and Guinness on draft so.....

Luckily the weather is better the next day, so it’s back up in the mountains for take 2. Here’s the same view of the Wicklow gap on a clear day.

And loads more photos of the mountains.

Powerscourt waterfall is quite impressive.

Back on the coast we wildcamp for the night at Clogha beach.
