where we have to open the barrier and let ourselves out, not a soul to be seen just the sound of a dog howling in the distance. Was there really a little old lady who let us in late last night or was it a ghost, well whatever it was it took my 15 Euros. Turns out we were in a small hamlet near a village called Chiusa-di-Pesio, between Cuneo and Mondovi which according to local folklore rises out of the misty mountains on the 17th and 18th of November every ten years, so I guess we were pretty lucky to find somewhere open to stay for the night.
On the road we pass through some drab looking villages punctuated with some amazing architectural features such as this duomo
Roads spiralling through the forests and hills going who knows where.
We arrive at the coastal town of Savona where the temperature has risen from 8 degrees up in the mountains to a humid 12 degrees C,
it’s still raining. Genoa might be better so we head there arriving about 11:45 it takes us until 1:30 to drive to the other side and find somewhere to park, it’s a huge city with a vast port area and cruise ships docked in the harbours, we were planning to explore the old city but by the time we found somewhere to park it was about ten miles away.
So off on the coast road east towards La Spezia,
