Ski-ing

After starting out a cloudless sunny day trying to find some non- existent waterfalls we find ourselves at Eileen Donan castle, ancestral home of the clan McRae and one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.

It seems to be teeming with Danish tourists, not having encountered many Danes on our travels we listen with interest to their conversations, the language seems to be a bit of a cross between Swedish Dutch and French. Whilst touring the castles many rooms of artefacts and clan paraphernalia, a couple of American tourists are looking fixated out of one of the windows “come over here Chuck and take a look at this” one drawls “look at those stupid eagles airing their armpits”. Intrigued we have to go and have a look, this is what we saw.

We head inland back into the Cairngorm National Park

through Kingussie ,“monarch of the glen country” (the tv drama). Winding up through the pine forests near Aviemore, we emerge out onto the ski slopes where we make our camp for the night.
