Skeggy

A six hour uneventful journey takes us to sunny, yes sunny, Skegness where we’re meeting up with family staying in a static caravan on the outskirts of town. The day finds us squeezing between large overweight people and getting barged into by various sized and shaped mobility scooters as we battle our way down a pedestrianised zone aptly named by the locals as “chip alley” where you can buy a burger and chips for £1.19 (I can only assume the shop opposite was selling theirs at £1.20 !!),

We eventually arrive at the pier where we take a seat at the very end next to the obligatory telescope which charges 20p for a brief period to survey the north sea environs. We had noticed on arrival that you can see quite clearly through the telescope without having to pay the charge, however nobody else seemed to look through it until they had inserted their coin, so we decided to keep quiet and watch the happenings. Everybody seems very friendly up here in the north with all the locals being very chatty, especially two local middle aged blokes who ask us where we’re from and then start doing really bad west country accents and talking with great authority about how beautiful Devon is (without having been). Apparently they had been to Great Yarmouth once and that was a five hour trip.

Back through the town to our new home and the only eventful thing to report was picking up four mars bars for a pound in a seaside supersaver shop, sums skeggy up !!
