After boiling a pan of water in the microwave for a full 15 minutes to make our first coffee of the day, we decided that our microwave was a little under powered. “From now on we’ll double all the timings” says I. Eager to try out our new toy we grill some toast and place two eggs into the poacher following all the instructions to the letter, until it comes to how long to cook it for....
Close the lid and cook on medium power for 1 minute, allow to stand for 20 seconds and cook for a further minute
Sod that... microwave on 75% power for 2 minutes
Ping goes the timer, the door is eagerly opened to examine our repast. Following is what can only be described as a dull pop.
Et voila, breakfast in the van.
Two and a half hours cleaning later and we’re off up north. First encounter is the Humber Bridge
This guy was trying to get out of the way of my driving....
Then on to Scarborough
Then north to Robin Hoods Bay
Then to Whitby abbey,
Looking to find a spot to stop overnight proved a bit tricky. Eventually we ended up at Guisborough just outside the sprawling metropolis of Teeside, on a small farm with a Jack Russell terrier covered in cow muck that insists on jumping into the back of the van at every available opportunity. The excitement continues.....

Here is a Limerick inspired by the eggymess (thats a bit like Lochness but without the monster).....
Poor Jo has got egg on her face
The microwave looks a disgrace
Old fashioned is best
You dont get the mess
And its done at a far gentler pace
The first of many little poems to come inspired by the Jo and Paul Grand Tour...
Very good guys, keep em coming.
