Och aye the noo day 2

After an excellent night’s sleep, we still couldn’t bring ourselves to try cooking eggs for breakfast yet. For the first couple of hours driving it seems as though all Scotland has to offer is 20mph speed limits and an unhealthy amount of golf courses. Following a pleasant drive along the coastline of the Firth of Forth, we arrive in Edinburgh. Satnav set to guide us through the city... just as a brand new white audi a5 convertible driven by a group of kids, ploughs itself into a car coming out of a side road right in front of us. The audi veers off through a bus shelter and embeds itself in a lovely granite stone wall - probably late 19th century judging by the ornate decoration of its arches; everybody emerges from the vehicles unscathed and people start making calls on their mobile phones, it’ll probably be on facetwitterbookpage within the hour.

Edinburgh

We continue on our route crossing the Forth Bridge and stop for lunch. We are constantly amazed by the relatively small amount of vehicles on the road, this has become apparent since back as far as Redcar in the north east of England, maybe people up north can’t afford cars anymore.

St Andrews flies by (no birdie or eagle jokes here),

and onto crossing the Tay bridge (or is it the fifth !!) to Dundee - piece of cake.

We were planning to wildcamp somewhere around Arbroath but during a coffee break, noticed on the map, a castle called Monikie which was near a lake, sorry, Loch. This was unimpressive so a trip to nearby Carrot Hill proved fruitful in providing us with our evening camp spot where we had to partake of some stir fry vegetables with noodles.

(all puns intended).
