Not a typo it’s really a place and is also known as Slovenia’s prettiest town.
First up is to follow the guide books suggested walking tour which takes us along streets full of character
and small alleyways leading to sheltered courtyards.
Then a wander round the castle
Which has rooms decked out as they were in the 19th century when the castle was apparently owned by the Leslies, a Scottish family.
One of the exhibits is of the local tradition of mask wearing during the spring carnival to banish the winter, quite bizarre.
After lunch we have included in the castle ticket price a tour of the monastery which is also an impressive building and houses a large collection of Roman Archaeological finds.
A short drive takes us to our stop-over for the night in the wine producing hamlet of Sventinje,
which has just half a dozen houses and a church on top of a hill overlooking the vines below,
after sampling and purchasing some interesting rose and red wine it’s time to sit and watch the sun set.
If you’ve ever thought of a touring holiday but hated the thought of towing a shed behind you or a motorhome is too big, then you can now keep your family estate car and attach one of these contraptions to it. ( a German idea I think as the owners were).
