Back to Lake Balaton

A couple of hours drive north, we did spot a stork though (with a young one just visible on the right-hand side of the nest.)

Passed fields and fields of sunflowers

and we end up at Lake Balaton, Europes largest expanse of fresh water and Hungary’s “Sea” where thousands flock to sun themselves for their annual holiday. The water temperature is 24 degrees C but it looks very murky so we’re not tempted to take a dip.

We take the ferry across the narrowest part of the lake to save an unnecessary drive round, as you can’t see any lake from the road. The area is very built up so we are forced to stay in a camp site overnight.
