After surviving the wind in the night we’re greeted to much more of the same the next morning and for the rest of the day, it however provides us with some pretty dramatic scenery for our day driving round the Beare peninsula,
first place of interest is the view of Dursey island and its precarious cable car ride
which operates every day (again except today – I guess due mainly to the weather) as it also provides a link for the six people who live on the island. Continuing clockwise round the peninsula we arrive at the brightly coloured village of Eyeries,
further on is the equally colourful village of Lauragh. After lunch we take a little used inland road to visit the Cloonee lakes,
named after the actor George, the road continues up the valley getting narrower until it reaches the Gleninchaquin falls.
The weather takes a turn for the worst and we seek sanctuary up another valley on the side of a lake with the wind now at its strongest so far we really do wonder if the van will be able to stand up to it – oh well it’s beer o’clock.....
A top tip if you should decide to come to Ireland, don’t bring your own car, hire one, even the main roads are in a shocking state and you might as well wreck a hire car than damage your own.

Hi Jo and Paul great photos the place does look completely empty though. Just shown the blog to the kids and Louis stated "I want to go in our camper van RIGHT NOW!"
Big news here We have a new bathroom it's finished and it's gorgeous! Just a shame the colour of the background of this blog keeps reminding me of the old one. Keep having fun
Chrissy
