A play in the Picos

A beautiful day and we’re off into Canigas to look at the roman bridge that the town is famous for, complete with a cross hanging from the large middle arch.

Then we plot a route through the park using the smallest roads we can find and set off for a play. We find some stunning scenery

lots of little villages dotted around the mountains

some lakes.

and some fires that were eating their way up the moutains.

We end up parking for the night by a lake near Caberceno south of Santander, where we (by we I mean Jo) watch as a couple are training their dog to fetch a toy after they have thrown it into the lake, each time the toy gets thrown further and further until eventually the dog refuses to fetch it, after some time spent shouting at the dog to return the toy the guy reluctantly strips off and dives in to retrieve the object from where his wife / girlfriend had thrown it.
Just as it’s going dark the lake is descended upon by a lot (or should that be a gaggle) of very noisy geese.
