Maybe it’s just not meant to happen, we went along to the railway station to catch our train from Regua to Pochinho only to find that the rail workers union had declared a week of strikes disrupting all services in the region, our train to Pochinho was running though the ticket man couldn’t guarantee that we could get back the same day, so we had to abandon the idea especially as another night in the car park in Regua wasn’t a welcoming thought. So by the time we get back to the van it’s lunch time and the heavens have opened, torrential rain and that kind of low cloudy misty stuff that you get. We decide on a drive to the Unesco world heritage site of Guimaraes supposedly the birthplace of Portugal as it is today, this is no better in fact it’s worse here so we head for the city of Braga to a religious site just outside called Bom Jesus do Monte we arrive to find the place enveloped in mist so we park up for the night and hopefully tomorrow will bring better weather.
Here’s a photo of a sunny beach from earlier in the week.
