We then continue following the coastline as much as we can passing endless deserted beaches.
A few miles from Nazare we have to divert inland as the coast road has been closed and we find a hidden gem in the town of Obidos, a huge impressive walled town with a roman aquaduct and church.
We finally get to Nazare by a very dubious route and struggle to find anywhere to park and also unable to drive through as the streets are too narrow for us so it’s just a fleeting glimpse of the sea front.
Further north and the sandy beaches go on as far as the eye can see.
We eventually stop for the evening in the town of Figueira da Foz where we treat ourselves to a meal out.
we pass some strange rock formations caused by sea errosion
