complete with a statue of Jesus towering above it.
From a distance it looks a colourful city and as we enter the one way system looking for a minor coastal road we are attacked from all directions by trams
as the satnav has decided to have a duvet day when we need it most. We eventually find our way out using our out of date 2011 michelin roadmap and head out to Cabo raso on the west coast.
And then onto Cabo Da Roca the most westerly point of mainland Europe.
A diversion inland to the old summer capital of Portugal Sintra, the satnav decides to put in an appearance and takes us down a narrow winding road through the forest
And provides us with a superb view of the old palace of Pena
Which we just have to go and explore further, guided tours were being offered but the tour guide didn't look very friendly
it’s an amazing place with just as amazing views from its walls.
On leaving the palace we wind our way down into the town of Sintra which is a nightmare to drive through with its honeycomb of narrow streets and alleys.
No storks today just this black swan we saw in a lake in the grounds of Pena.
