Getting warmer

Ever since we got to the Tejo river the climate has changed, spring has turned to early summer and all the trees are in leaf. I guess every country has its line where the climate changes, with England its usually the English channel. The houses have a Moroccan Moorish look, they are nearly all whitewashed and the people look a little darker in complexion. Back to our journey....

We start the day with a visit to Ermida, a restored castle keep high above the Tejo river overlooking the cliffs of the Portas de Radao.

We spot a stork in a tree.

Driving south through the town of Nisa

we pass the Barragem de Povoa and a large reservoir.

Saw this amazing house with a storks nest on the chimney.

The town of Castelo de Vide

And next Mavao an amazing castle high up on top of a rocky hilltop that has probably the most amazing views in Portugal situated close to the Spanish border.

Continuing on we pass fields of Cork trees with carpets of daisies underneath them.

Before parking for the night near the town of Vila Vicosa.
