Mountains and Mayo

No it’s not Jamie whatsisnames latest recipe.

The day starts off in county Galway with a drive around Irelands only fjord, Killary fjord,(although I’m sure if they tried hard enough they could have made up a Gaelic word for it instead of using a Scandinavian one).

Then we enter County Mayo where we have loads of mountainous scenery to start off with

before this gives way to some flat Lakeland peat bogs.

We stop for the night where some stones have been placed in a peat bog giving us the chance of taking some arty photos.

Next morning we continue along the coast road north passing some dramatic cliffs with loads of birds nesting on them.

We pass through Sligo which is uninteresting in comparison to some of the major towns we’ve visited. All of a sudden we think we’re back in Cape-town when we see table mountain in the distance,

we drive down a side road to investigate and find our very first water rise (opposite to a water fall, the water is being blown upwards by the wind).

Tonights wildcamp is on the shore of lake Glencar.
