Here we are in the arctic circle in the town of Tromso, dubbed Paris of the north, its 09:25 in the morning and its just getting a little less dark, you can hardly call it light.
Its a strangely beautiful cold, wintry place
and this is the view
It's now 12:00 mid-day and below us in the harbour all the boats sound their horns to signal the event.
We go for a trek in knee deep snow where kev finds an igloo to shelter in
Back down we walk past the Arctic cathedral
over the bridge and back to the hotel for complimentary afternoon waffles. 3pm and it's dark, the twilight lasted about 4 hours as the sun never actually rises during this arctic winter. During waffles we try and work out which way north is before going off to find a compass, and yes we were all wrong.
All very bizarre having such a short day by 6pm it feels like it's about midnight.
Another complimentary buffet appears in the hotel restuarant and we're distracted for another hour.
