Christmas day in Paris

The day starts off at the cathedral de Notre Dame de Paris

after watching mass, we have a wander round before the next one starts

It's a beautiful cold crisp winters day with clear blue skies so we decide to make the most of it and make our way to the Montparnasse tower which is 209m high. Up on the 56th floor is a viewing area and cafe where we spend some time taking in views and getting our bearings on the city.

It's hard to drag ourselves away from the warmth of the viewing area but we have to go and see some of the sights up close, first port of call is the Arc de Triomphe

then we walk down the Champs - Elysees towards the big wheel

The street is packed with people out for an afternoon stroll, further on down and we find ourselves in the middle of the Paris Christmas village.

After far too much vin chaud and sugary confectionary a quick photo back up the way we have come

before arriving at le Place de Concorde

It's starting to get very cold now so we head back to the hotel to get ready for an evening out.
